You can set up automatic messages on WhatsApp using the built-in tools in the WhatsApp Business app or by using third-party automation tools for personal accounts.

Setting Up Auto-Replies in WhatsApp Business

The WhatsApp Business app has free, native features to reply when you are away or when a customer messages you for the first time.

Away Messages

Open WhatsApp Business and go to Settings or the Tools tab.
Tap Business Tools and select Away message.
Turn on the switch for Send away message.
Tap the text box to type your custom reply.
Tap Schedule to choose when it sends (Always send, Custom schedule, or Outside of business hours).
Tap Recipients to choose who gets the message (Everyone, Everyone not in address book, etc.).
Tap Save.

Greeting Messages

Go to Settings > Business Tools.
Select Greeting message under the chat organization section.
Turn on Send greeting message.
Edit the message text to welcome new clients.
Choose your preferred recipients and tap Save.

Setting Up Auto-Replies on Personal WhatsApp Accounts

Standard personal WhatsApp accounts do not include a built-in auto-reply feature.

Download a trusted third-party auto-responder app from the Google Play Store, such as AutoResponder.ai.
Grant the app notification access permissions so it can read incoming messages and trigger replies.
Create custom rules inside the app to define specific trigger keywords and automated text responses.
